Text 17 Jun Design Stuff

Atl. 21.

Today was a pretty simple day, nothing spectacular going on. Jeff and I had breakfast this morning at the Bluebird to catch up about stuff. Our conversation ranged from branding and designing, to ministry and social programs. It was a good talk; I explained some of the tension that I was discovering between wanting to start organizations and programs and ministries that helped people because of their obvious benefits to society, but not wanting to sell out or ever lose passion for simply loving others on a grassroots level. At MetroMerge, we looked over a lot of my designs, and came up with some good options. Jeff had me make mock-ups of some concepts for the tote bags, and we are moving forward on those and hopefully printing them soon to start selling. I also made mock-ups in Photoshop using the Vanishing Point filter of what a GCG display at Catalyst and other events could look like with the three 4ft x 8ft posters. Making visual representations of products was good experience. I look forward to seeing all of that stuff printed soon. We had lunch with Andre at El Matador, and she liked the designs a lot too. The rest of the day we worked on concepts for the Flash invitation (we’ll be overhauling that entire idea, so it’s kind of like starting from scratch… again). I also changed up the tags for the shirts and am redesigning them into tags for the totes. Mission Year also met at MetroMerge today, so I got to see Leroy and Ashley again. Ashley is actually moving to Atl, so we went out with her, her boyfriend, Mike, and her mother to Grant Central for pizza tonight and talked about neighborhoods. She also detailed the social experiment she’s working on now called, “We Are Not Our Clothes,” for a book Jeff is working on. So again: a simple day, but a good day. Lot of creativity today, thankfully. Really getting better with the software, with understanding how things need to meld all into the same brand identity, and with coming up with concepts to do that.
